Our Zone 3
Gardening Guide

This workbook wasn’t created for every gardener — it was made for those of us who grow between frosts. Blending practical planning tools with creative journaling pages, it helps Zone 3 and other short-season gardeners stay organized, confident, and inspired all year.

Built for Zone 3 gardeners who juggle frost dates, short seasons, and winter growing. Filled with real cold-climate experience and nature-inspired artwork, this guide supports winter planning, spring preparation, and summer growth.

If you garden in a northern climate, this is the planner designed for you.

Welcome to winter gardening in zone 3

While the garden sleeps under snow, I’m growing indoors — herbs under lights, sprouts in jars, and tiny experiments that brighten the cold months. I’ll be sharing my winter gardening efforts through small, manageable projects that anyone can try at home.

One pot is enough. One seed is enough. Let’s grow through winter together… and one plant light is definitely helpful.

ABOUT US

We’ve been growing in Zone 3 for more than 25 years, and we believe gardening is something we learn together. Every season teaches us something new, and we love connecting with other northern growers who are discovering what thrives in a short-season climate.

As growers who raise much of our own food, we believe deeply in the satisfaction that comes from knowing exactly where your harvest comes from. There’s nothing like seeing homegrown food on your plate, and we want to help more gardeners experience that pride.

We are located in Richer, Manitoba, Canada — growing, learning, and gardening between frosts.

My winter zone  3 green house

The greenhouse is getting ready for the season ahead. Winter experiments and early spring seedlings are already on the list — testing a small solar heater, trying a double-greenhouse setup for extra warmth, and squeezing in a bit of finishing work as time allows. It’s a simple, quiet space, but even in winter there’s always something happening.

How do we grow veg in the dead of winter? How do we manage humidity, coax plants along in the lowest light of the year, and — most importantly — how do we get this frozen door open?
